Just a word of advice for anyone that struggle with razor bumps/burn. When you start using a safety razor or straight razor be sure to use a wet alum block on your face after shaving, using cold water to soothe your skin. Do not apply balm after shaving, instead wait half an hour and use clearisil pads on areas that are irritated. This will make a world of a difference and I’ve seen amazing results so far, the saylic acid really does work its magic

I've been using cart razors for 35 years. I tried a safety razor a few years ago without any instruction or info. Not good..
I recently stumbled upon your vids and decided to take the leap. With all the guidance from you and other shave tubers, I've become the newest convert to the wet shave. It's not just a shave. It borders on therapeutic. Thanks for all the tips and demonstrations.

Your channel and videos are the sole reason I picked up this new hobby/life hack. Bought the Rockwell 6C, Simpson brush, Taylor Sandlewood, etc. Like the Nascets (first blades I tried), Persona, and Feather -- each on a 4 for the 6C. Really like the Feather. Great tips on sensitive skin. Ohio, represent.

Three things that took years to figure out (mostly due to not paying attention) in order of importance: 1. Figure out the optimal frequency of shaves that your face and technique will tolerate. For me, every three to four days seems to be the sweet spot. Some guys can shave twice a day and never have any irritation, even with horrible technique. If this isn't you, don't fight it. Also, if you're shaving off three weeks of growth trim it down to at least a 1 before you lather up. 2. Find the right razor aggression - i.e. blade gap, exposure, and blade sharpness. Sharper and more aggressive isn't better if it's turning your face to raspberry jam. 3. Just put the expression "BBS" right out of your mind. Your goal shaving should be hair removal with no bumps or redness with the latter two things being priority.

Great refresher course, David.❤. Thank you so much as always. The techniques I have learnt watching your videos and listening to your advise has made me a better shaver today. Now I know it's possible to improve by being mindful of each step in the process. Just yesterday after a very good head shave with my Rockwell 6C, I remembered you, and smiled😊 (5 days growth, I started with the R5 plate, then R4 plate on the 2nd pass, then R3 plate for the 3rd pass and pick ups). You are sincerely appreciated.👍🏾

Potassium alumen is a blessing. Cleans and heals the tiny wounds very fast. These days i slipped my hand and caused a little gash; stubborn blood drops kept coming but stopped as soon as i generously passed a stone in the wound. I was surprised. It's also good to keep the face and armpits clean (for the armpits i like to sprinkle baking soda over the wet stone).

Couldn't agree more with your tips. I have sensitive skin. Would always get irritation on my neck from cartridges. Switched to DE shaving with the rockwell 6C and noticed a big difference. I had to stop using the alum block as I noticed I started breaking out around the corner of my lips with some pimples coming up. I've switched to an aftershave lotion and haven't noticed any issues. Keep it up Dave!

In 15 years using this site this is the first time anything even closer to "shaving" comes up on my feed, so, in a way, this confirms corporative espionage, since the only way this could have happened is if I was being listened to when I asked my sis if she thought I looked better or worse shaven.
TL:DR thx for the tips.

Hey David. From a 50 yr old man. I appreciate all your videos. Its honestly given me the confidence to jump on board, I purchased a Rockwell T2 and am loving every minute of it. The ability to control on the fly is awesome. Also Im loving the rockwell pre shave and cream. That Barber shop scent is to die for. Lastly I've even used the T2 for my head shave and the first few times I got some cuts but I was rushing it. Now I tret it like its a Man spa day :) Keep up the brilliant work my Man

Nice vid brother. Learned a lesson recently when traveling. Used a cheap soap for the lather and results were not great. It really pays to use a quality shave soap- don’t skimp. Thanks for the tips.
