Learn what a redundant playback rig is, and why you should use one.

If you're using tracks on stage, you should be using a redundant rig. In this episode, I explain what a redundant rig is and why it's essential if you're using tracks on stage.

Thanks for these awesome videos. Would it be possible to do a video on connecting to a lighting console and sending LTC from Ableton? Desperate to see this done!

Thanks. We are at a small church and don’t typically do redundant ableton machines, but I can see where that would be advantageous. Do you have info on the best way to do this when running tracks over Dante? I don’t think we can have two computers configured to the same channels on the mixer through Dante at the same time. Guess we’d just pull up Dante Controller and switch real quick?

Amazing video!!

I have one question. I use play-audio for redundancy for tracks, but I’ve seen acts somehow connect the play-audio to a radial backtracks to also have redundant auto-tune? I was digging to find a video that explains that but couldn’t find it. If you have any suggestions on how to run both redundant playback & redundant auto-tune I would love that.

Right now I have Antares tune being switched by midi that’s sent from my playback session to Antares in UAD console. Wondering if you had any tips on how to also make tune redundant!

Thank you so much!!

Playaudio12 has a major deficiency, in that it doesn't offer redundant power supply. Most mission-critical live audio equipment has dual power supply. Computers are not the only failure point. Even if you connect the power to a UPS it can also fail. Two separate power source is a must for true redundancy. (SW8 is different in that it is actually a PASSIVE device, the AC power is only for the relay and the LEDs, the audio circuit works perfectly even during power out)
