I made this in 7 days... with only $10

We wanted to go back to our roots and try to create a fantasy miniature house with only 10$ in materials, and 5 basic hand tools!

This is reminding me of my favorite doll house I had as a child! My mom had made a castle out of a cardboard box and carved windows and a drawbridge in it! She even made a couple of ledges on the inside to act as a second story. And she decorated the sides with climbing roses in red and purple! It was much or as detailed as yours but it was the thought that counted and I played the heck out of more than my other dollhouses!

As soon as you bought that pack of paint, I knew you were gonna need some "contraband" white. I use acrylics a lot, and I seem to be always buying more white than anything else. Tip for folks on a budget: you can buy cheap color acrylics, but buy one tube of high quality white if you can. It will make most of your colours more opaque and easier to apply.

First of all, I had no doubt that you could produce something amazing with a small budget - you did that quite a bit in the earliest days - the talent is what matters most, not the technology! Secondly, it was refreshing to see you step back from fancy tools and materials because those tools do start to appear essential to newer makers. I understand that better tools and materials free you from a lot of tedium, but the vision and skill are there either way! You guys are amazing regardless of budget, and it is a pure joy to watch you work! (Incidentally, I really missed the quests for illicit gravel from the old days!)

It was great seeing this "budget" build. Even if it would be more expensive the fact that it was done with only basic tools is great. Like you said at the begining, things like 3d printers are still a rarity but getting some boxes, glue and paints? Everyone can have those :)

Proof that while fancy tools can make the process easier, quicker and cleaner, it really is all about the creativity and ingenuity of the artist! (Also who else had a small heart attack for a nanosecond before they realised that *wasn’t* in fact a microwave and that Martina *wasn’t* about to stick a load of metal into it? 😂)

I agree that this should become a series...challenges. Money based, tool based, even color/paint based. I also love the fantasy inspired stuff you do but would love to see more cyber/space stuff like the PC you did with LTT! Keep up the great work both of you!

This is such a flashback to college for me. My 3D design professor actually made us work with cheap materials at first, then we often had to dumpster dive for materials because we were too poor to afford anything extra. I watch a few other channels that make some pretty amazing things from garbage and recycling. Fancy tools are nice and make life easier, but they don't make the art, you do. That's why a good artist can make art from trash as well as expensive materials.
