in a nutshell with XOR, any bits that compare and are the same (two binary 0’s, for example) yield a resultant bit of false (and produce a 0-bit as the output). Any bits that compare and are different (a binary 1 and a binary 0) produce a true value, and an output bit of 1 is generated. Figure 2-5 illustrates this process.
