You remind me of that time a Dutch guy was interviewed for a job at an American company. The interviewer asked him what his worst characteristic was. Dutch guy answered him "My complete honesty". The interviewer said he didn't think honesty is a bad characteristic at all. The Dutch guy then had to tell him he didn't care a fig about what he thought.

In The Netherlands you’re invited to vote; you get sent a letter with information about where and how and you just go and vote. The whole process takes me 10 minutes. I vote in a community centre across the street.

The whole “register to vote” and the poor access to voting stations in the USA is mind blowing to me.

Hi young man, II could not agree more. Me and my girlfriend talk a lot about it. (She lives north-west of Atlanta, Bartow county, I myself am dutch and living east of Eindhoven...talking abouta long distance relationship ;) but it works). I fly roughly twice a year to Georgia and every time I visit, the roads seem to get worse :( and about LOVES it!! Enjoying your vlogs and sharing them with my better half in the USA. wkr, D

You should look at explanations by "Not Just Bikes" as to why there are potholes etc. in the States...

The main reason for crappily maintained USA is, in my eyes, the fact that the country is dominated by short term corporate interests. “Grab the money and run” seems to be motto.

Great video. I haven't been in Rotterdam and The Hague for a while, but major cities like Utrecht and Amsterdam, and medium cities like Haarlem, Amersfoort and Hilversum are clean and well maintained. I went to Japan and Swiss and these countries are even better maintained—maybe even too clean. A school friend of mine lives in Manhattan and I visited him five times over the past 15 years. I am so sad to see New York deteriorating... The start of Broadway, near the financial district, used to feel safe and look nice. There were family run shops all the way up to 15th street and even beyond. Over time, I saw everything going from great shops to low-end discount shops to boarded-up shops... Family run shops were pushed out. It started feeling more and more unsafe.

I like your video's more and more, and sometimes we do not realise how great our country is, thanks for reminding us of that ❤

Hallo ☀️ as a Colombian living in the Netherlands I can relate with the Dutch directness.i.love it it's practical and efficient. The importance of the things that really matter in life the Dutch are spot on.... Something i find disturbing about the states is the Karen i know better, get the manager behavior 🥱🤮is just sickening. I've come across call the Manager type Americans when I used to work at the hotel in Amsterdam. But every time they get a cold shoulder from the Dutch. 😂😂fijne dag 💐✊

All i can say, Americans need to lean to "Doe ff normaal" ;) because the amount of crazy i seen lately coming from the States, is beyond comprehention, and worse its affecting the rest of the world too to a degree, seeing more of those crazies here too lately.

As a born American from a Dutch immigrant family, I learned something from this about Dutch temperament and priorities.. Yes it's true that Dutch people value time. I took it to be impatience and even rudeness but that's not it. It's about not wasting time and honesty that explains their directness. They don't waste time on things that are nothing but a waste of time. They don't beat around the bush, don't stall around and won't let you stall them. It's not bad manners, it's just efficiency, effective use of time, and honesty. Thanks for this revelation.

I’m back nephew! This was an awesome video. Thank you for the break down of great things they have in the Netherlands. I agree with you nephew because this country has become about who you know and how much you have! It’s a capitalist society. Keep giving us the sauce. Your story telling is awesome! I’m going to get caught up on the videos I missed! Continued success and blessings nephew! 🥷🏽🥷🏽☕️!

Might also be fun to look up. "The polder model". This is a way of meeting that we have devised in the Netherlands and are the only ones to use.

Time is indeed the most important currency in life, as a semitruckdriver I have 2 days to see my family and friends so sometimes you have to be strict and say no to people

I’m a Dutch girl that moved to LA and i really agree with you, especially on the “having standards”. I tell my American boyfriend this all the time too. Dutch people want everything to be better and fix everything all the time which makes the living standard so high! And i feel like Americans just accept it and deal with it the way it is.

I wish the Americans wouldn’t just accept things the way they are like vacation days, the bad roads, the public transportation, the veggies and bread not being fresh in the supermarkets, the healthcare system. They could have everything so nice as in the Netherlands too if they wanted it!! If i see what kind of things are possible here then i believe they could make those things possible too

Thank you for this!

I could not agree more, time is the only thing we can't recover or make more of. Wasting other people's time should be made a criminal offence.

I'm especially happy to see an American seeing the true value of small talk. There's still hope for mankind.
