Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said Friday he is “cautiously optimistic” about the upcoming United Nations COP26 conference, but said “difficult negotiations” lie ahead and not all states are willing to “do more faster.”

International officials are set to meet in Scotland starting Sunday as they try to ramp up efforts to curb climate change amid mounting tensions over failed funding promises.

The COP26 meetings, delayed a year by COVID-19, are intended to finalize the rule book for the Paris accord, including how carbon emissions trading can work between countries and what each country has to report about progress toward climate goals.

Hopefully he does better with the environment portfolio than he did attacking the freedom of speech of Canadians and government regulating online content

Another minister with a shady past. Really goes to show you that the crooks are really in cabinet. Oh wait: our JT has a shady past also.

"cautiously optimistic", I have to laugh every time that line gets regurgitated by the media.

If we want to help countries reduce their emissions… we need to build carbon capture sites by their coal fired plants.

Canada also back out in Kyoto protocol, because they don't want to pay $ for not meeting their target emissions

Hundreds of dirty oil pipelines in the world, and we can't install a cleaner version from alberta to the ocean. This guy is on the take.

2 billion gas cars with an average life expectancy of 15 years, and we can only make 100m of electric cars per year. This governments policy is making electric cars more expensive. Less government and a more open and free market

Keep picking on the big, bad oil and gas industry. But you still want to drive and eat and heat and power your homes - I must have missed your alternative
