GWAS associations, 2005-2017

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have produced thousands of genetic regions associated to common diseases and traits, since the first small GWAS were performed in 2005, followed by large-scale efforts starting in 2007. Conducted by researchers at the Broad Institute and other institutions around the globe, these studies have shed light on the biological underpinnings of many common diseases, including schizophrenia, inflammatory bowel disease, and type 2 diabetes.
