Will the ongoing civil war in Myanmar eventually see the country split along ethnic lines? It certainly seems to be looking that way with the multitude of armed ethnic militias making large advancements in their home states, nearly kicking out all members of the ruling military junta that kicked this whole thing off. In Chin state and Rakhine state, the titular ethnic populations are extremely close to expelling the last of the government forces and it's unknown exactly what direction they will choose to go in when this occurs. The Rakhine nor the self-proclaimed state of Chinland so far has not made any unilateral declarations of independence from the central Myanmar government, although the Chin would have more reasons than most to do so. We'll have to see how the situation will evolve in the upcoming years, with China and India both playing a large role in the future of this conflict. Thanks for watching

Nitpicking, but the "ky" consonant cluster in the Latinized version of the Myanmar language is pronounced similarly to "ch" in English. Her name is Su CHEE.. not Su Key.

There's no reason modern borders should correspond to the borders Westerners drew when decolonising. Perhaps it's best if some countries break into smaller countries

Myanmar is in a revolutionary war, not a civil war. It was an escalation of a civil war that has almost stopped due to peace talks started during civilian leadership. The Ethnic Armed Organisations formed coalitions with the support of the ousted civilian government called the National Unity Government, or NUG.

Arakan used to be out of Myanmar control for most of its history. Mostly a state in Medivial Federal India. Myanmar just has to free it or give it to Bangladesh.

I don't know why, but this doesn't get much empathy from me. The various ethnic groups let the Rohingya be persecuted for years by the army, and when they got persecuted too they dared to ask them for help... Reminds me of that WW2 poem from Martin Niemöller. Oh and let's not talk about the complicity of the "democratically elected Nobel prize leader".

The solution to Myanmar's civil war seems lying on Burmese Junta's willingness or unwillingness to grant high degree of autonomy to several minority ethnic groups in Myanmar，which include Rakhine Ethnic Group, Chin Ethnic Group, Kachin Ethnic Group, Ta'ang Ethnic Group, Han Ethnic Group, Wa Ethnic Group, Shan (Dai) Ethnic Group, Karen Ethnic Group, Karenny Ethnic Group, Mon Ethnic Group, Pa-O Ethnic Group, and Danu Ethnic Group. I think the Burmese Junta would choose denying the minority ethnic groups of high degree of autonomy because it is against the will of Burmese Chauvism.
