As part of Adobe's #FromMeToYou community video project, we made a video about Kaya toast, one of Singapore's quintessential traditional breakfasts. We were totally craving for them in the last few months, so we decided to learn to make our own.

For our international friends watching this, if you ever visit Singapore, you have to try it! But traveling is out of the question for the time being. So, if you'd like to get a taste of the flavors of Singapore, consider making some Kaya toast at home 😉

Have you tried Kaya before? What's your favorite breakfast from your local culture?

I’m a Japanese living in S’pore & love Kaya toast. Yet don’t think I’m gonna make it at home but interesting to see someone actually making it. I’ve been loving your website & lifestyle :)

Hey I loved the recipe of Kaya, I will surely try it. I am from India, our breakfast is mostly tea/coffee with a local dish called Idli or Dosa which is basically a dish made from lentils served with spicy curry

Singapore is my most visited place in the world. I live in the Philippines and I go here more times than any other city since I was a kid. It's so amazing how Southeast Asian food is interpreted in this side of the globe, ours is honestly too Spanish and American, even if we grow pandan leaves and have an abundant coconuts as well. Singapore has one of the best foods ever, hands down. Always Nasi Lemak and Hainanese Chicken Rice upon arriving~~

Loved the accidental smiley face of soy sauce in your eggs.

I've been looking for a Kaya recipe since we visited SG in 2019. It was the first thing our 2 year old ate and she loved it!

Thanks for sharing ! Hope to travel to Singapour some day and taste it. As a french, I have 2 favorites classics : croissant or tartine (slice of good toasted bread, with good butter and homemade jam by my mum). Never tired of those ! But recently I just tried many porridge recipes...

My favorite American breakfast is something called Biscuits & Gravy. It's two split buttermilk biscuits served with country sausage gravy. If you're really hungry, add a couple of eggs however you prefer them cooked, and a cup of strong hot coffee or hot tea with milk and sugar.

The sausage gravy is made with a specific American sausage called "breakfast sausage, " spiced heavily with sage. It's just delicious, and I hope you get to try it some day.

I’d love to sit in a hawker centre right now to enjoy this solf boiled egg kaya toast. But I don’t think it’ll happen anytime soon, so I probably have to make my own. Thanks for the beautifully presented tutorial :)

Saw this in a show and I’ve wanted to try it so much. I’m travelling to Malaysia next month so I hope I can find it there, the process looks a lot simpler than I had imagined.
