This is our monthly Hangout, led by Jacob Brunton.

This month Jacob shares about research he's doing on common conceptions of social justice, especially the work of Timothy Keller.

Jacob explains a better way to understand the terms surrounding this issue and demonstrates that some philosophical premises at the foundation of socialism and wealth-redistribution are incompatible with the gospel itself.

The video gives a behind-the-scenes look into Jacob's method of thinking through current issues through the lens of a rational, Christians worldview.

I believe your point on Keller's use of the construct, social-justice; in place of the term, charity, is lacking. I would argue that Keller uses the construct, "social- justice, " in place of "charity" because he believes the "socially-oppressed" also believe that they deserve the goods and services of others as a right, and not as a need! Therefore, to use the term "charity, " in place of the construct, "social-justice, " causes emotional instability to their foundational belief system of oppression. This system of belief is buttressed by the following: "I deserve justice! I don't want your charity! Charity implies that I'm in need and that I can't dig myself out of this hole I put myself in. Social-justice implies that the world is against me by design, I didn't dig the hole, they dug it for me, pushed me in, and shoveled in the dirt. One view takes responsibility and ownership of the problem; while the other disavows ownership of the problem and shifts the blame to others and that's not good for business.

Consequently, the term "charity" undermines his ability to expeditiously grow his radical 'RISE' church plant initiative. The term "Rise, " has the conspicuous flavor of injustice towards the oppressed by the haves; against the have not's.

I just found not a lot of revelation here and sadly it was also lacking humility ..
Thank you Ps Tim for your credibility to speak on this subject
