Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 23
00:42 Allegro (Ferruccio by Cadenza Busoni)
10:59 Andante
16:32 Presto
24:37 Why GGGA?
25:09 About the Busoni cadenza
Horowitz had not performed any piano concerto in public for decades after his silver jubilee concert in 1953. After numerous rejections, including the Metner's one, he had decided to perform Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto in the famous golden jubilee concert in 1978 and 1978 is the last year when he performed the piano concerto.
But that's only true when it comes to concerts. In the later years of his increasing interest in Mozart, he decided to record Mozart's one piano concerto, and that's this. Maestro Carlo Giulini was a strong conductor candidate in 1978 for the Rachmaninoff Concerto, and this time Horowitz decided to be with him. Mozart isn't what people expected from Horowitz's youthful days, but isn't it nice to see him back with the orchestra anyway? He showed, as usual, an extraordinary insight into Mozart. And there's also a video of a studio session he recording this!
Also, thank you for 2k subs :3
