“Fireworks” from the album Puberty 2 by Mitski.

Listen to Puberty 2:

New album Laurel Hell out now.

Lyrics:
One morning this sadness will fossilize
And I will forget how to cry
I'll keep going to work and you won't see a change
Save perhaps a slight gray in my eye

I will go jogging routinely
Calmly and rhythmically run
And when I find that a knife's sticking out of my side
I'll pull it out without questioning why

And then one warm summer night
I'll hear fireworks outside
And I'll listen to the memories as they cry, cry, cry

I will be married to silence
The gentleman won't say a word
But you know, oh you know in the quiet he holds
Runs a river that'll never find home

And then one warm summer night
I'll hear fireworks outside
And I'll listen to the memories as they cry, cry, cry
Oh, one warm summer night
I'll hear fireworks outside
And I'll listen to the memories as they cry, cry, cry
Cry, cry, cry
Cry, cry, cry

“how do you process grief?
by running from it until it finds me in the middle of a sunny street on a beautiful day”

I think this song is about ignoring the sad emotions that you have and tossing it aside, only to realize that the silence you keep about your sad feelings is not good for you, and you can’t maintain it forever

Every year, at EXACTLY 11:58, i play this music, and i get to hear 2:00 in the start of the new year, listening to the fireworks

i love this song so much. it sounds extremely beautiful - and so are the lyrics. the melody is calm and bittersweet, while perfectly creating harmony between the meaning behind the lyrics: acceptance of your issues, learning to live with the numbness and potentially survival of a suicide attempt. makes me cry everytime. this, last words of a shooting star and carry me out are genuinely my favourite songs of all time.

Maybe a little red can't burn but the fine thorns cunningly will consume you. Mitski keep it up, you are my favorite artist and you will always be
