Drive Shaft Leaking Transmission Fluid// It was the slip yoke plug

Drive Shaft Leaking Transmission Fluid? After having the transfer case seal replaced, then a few weeks later replacing it again myself; I was able to determine it was the yoke plug that was leaking. Coating the inside of the back of the yoke with some black RTV solved the issue.

When dealing with mechanical issues with a vehicle seek professional assistance if you do not have the knowledge, skills and tools. This video is for informational purposes.

Holy hell I just ripped my damn seals out of my transfer case. Now that I look, like you said it isn’t leaking from the seal, it’s leaking from the the yoke. Sumbitch lol. Thank you

Nice work. If youre on the road, dollar store is your friend: small toothbrush/bottle brush and a small bottle of rubbing alcohol or mouthwash (gasoline is actually great but use safety) for cleaning, and a plastic knife or spoon to mush the RTV against the cap. Heat and bend the items on the engine/exhaust if you need better reach.
Stay gold.

I can see the headache you had dealing with that leak lol I had the same story on my 2005 Tahoe and I started with replacing the transfer case seal.... then as I put it back together. The rear u joints looked terrible so replaced those... 3 days later (renting the joint press from parts store) I got it done....

No leaks until a week later again 😐😐😑😑😭😭 but after researching, it leaks if you don’t drive it over couple days, which I used to drive daily or every 2 days... which is a bad design, and in the same area you fixed in the video.... hope my u joint has enough room so I can fix it the same way you did. I’m deff not doing that work all over again too lol 👍👍👍

The actual cause of your leak is the other seal that's inside the tailsection that hole should not be sealed it lets the slip yoke breath. Pull off the tailsection and replace the oring that seals the yoke on output shaft. The rtv will get blown off overtime because that hole is made to let the yoke breath as it slips in and out.
