It's amazing how American Rap scene is so in sync with Eastern European history.
80s - chill and friendly even in horrific situations
90s - all about being ruthless towards each other
00s - about finally having some money but losing some authenticity with that
10s - about having it good but still kind of coasting on that 90s bad boy pretence when the world has completely changed (and the authenticity is nowhere to be found)

90s hip hop was top tier storytelling, the lyrics were everything. Some rappers today just be saying anything and letting the beat carry the song.
