The most realistic van I've come across. You show the 'smallness' of it, which other people don't seem to show. I wondered if I was odd... now I know I'm not!

Hello from the UK, been living in my connect for a year now and still love it: 55 mpg (diesel), 340 watt solar panel & 2 kW diesel heater.
Also the parts, are cheap :)

The best easy simple inexpensive practical build I’ve seen so far!

Nice build. I have a 2012 Transit Connect myself. Like you said, it is perfect for road trips. Longest I've lived out of it was 30 days. Most trips are usually only a week or two though.
BTW, if you need even more storage you can put a shelf above the driver/passenger area. Right above where your curtains there are plugs you can pop out and there should be bolt holes there that you can anchor the shelf to. The front end you can use metal L brackets that hang over the lip of the existing shelf. For mine I framed it out with 2x2s with a very thin sheet of plywood for the bottom. I just needed a place for clothes and other light stuff.

Thanx for reminding us all we don't have to give up our brick and mortar houses to enjoy van life for get aways. Also emergency preparedness just in

I have traveled and camped in my Nissan X-Terra. I’m short, so I can sleep in the back just fine. I have often thought, though, how ideal a Transit Connect would be. You nailed it!

Cool stuff, fits your needs well. I was thinking about doing something similar for my solo trips but sticking with the estate car for now and sleeping in a tent

Thats a sweet little van! I have a VW caddy maxi that i am building out for the same use. I love how simple but effective your van is!

Perfect application for what I want to do; camping out in the desert two or three nights, now and then, with some buddies. Now I've just got to find a good deal on a van. Thanks.

Perfect! This is just what I want for the same reasons you have said. I believe that front curtain should be some blackout material for myself. Keep tweaking and keep us posted. Thank you for this upload. ❤️👍🏼

I have a 2012 Transit Connect I’ve set up to travel and boon dock out of. I general use a two man Kodiak tent, when I’m camping for more room, as I’m an amateur astronomer and carry two telescopes in my travels. Your design is a good one for your purposes. I agree about not installing a ‘Max Air’ ( or any other kind for that matter). There’s plenty of ventilation without it, and my experience has been holes in the roof inevitably leak, and are always discovered during some cloudburst event.

Excellent build! I have a 2010 transit connect. I use it the same way y'all do. I do the snowbird thing in mine in January and February. This year it'll be down the eastern seaboard to South Carolina add them out to California and back.

Great job! Curious if you have thought about adding a table somehow to the inside? How about extended tables out the back for cooking?

I realize you're not van lifing full-time, but I appreciate the simpler builds. I never understand investing so much money into something that will eventually need to be replaced. There are various reasons for van life. For me, less is more. Keep it clean and comfortable.
