A great song by Mr. Alpert himself, from his album "Fandango".

This song was played on The Weather Channel's Local on the 8s during the March/April 2010 morning playlist, as well as the October/November 2010 morning playlist.

This track was transferred directly from my copy of the "Route 101" 7" single to my laptop. No copyright infringement is intended.

I’ve been looking for this song for years. Who still listening to this besides me, in 2023?

You can believe that 42 years have passed, and this song remains as cool and fresh as when it was released.

As a truck driver I can confirm this is good highway music. I discovered this thanks to Yacht Rock Radio on my XM.

Singing on Route 101 at A & M Studio with the amazing Herb Albert producing, standing next to me, was one of the great moments of my career. It was one of the first albums I sang on when I moved from Chicago to Los Angeles two year prior. Mary Hylan sang with me and at the time Mary & I were both part of Clare Fischer's 2+2 that just received a Grammy nomination, a few years later we won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Group Performance.Route 101 is such a classic. I still love hearing it, especially driving on Route 101 from Los Angeles up the California coast. No better soundtrack for that experience. Thanks Herb.

I was married (first time, age 49) last Oct and this was played as the ceremony ended and I whisked my bride away...a tribute to my late father, who loved Herb Alpert.

This just captures the magic of driving down the 101 highway alongside the ocean in California - wonderful, joyful, uplifting, and spectacular.  Nothing like it.

Who in their right mind would give this song a thumbs down? They obviously have no taste in music. This is a Herb Alpert classic...one of the all time greatest instrumental peices. Never get tired of listening to this.

What a belter this song is. Perfect for blasting out on a drive through wonderful scenery or on a coast road. One of Herb's best compositions by far. Love it.

Being from Southern California, came home on leave in 82', I heard this song on FM radio station, it gave me memories to remember when driving down the coast, PCH, seeing the beaches. it gives me the comfort and relax feeling I was missing when I was station in England. a lot of Herb Alpert music gave me the feeling of being home, to where I was enjoying being overseas. In England driving through country roads the late afternoon, light shining through leaves, having that same feeling as driving on the coast and seeing the beaches. Now older hearing his sound wishing to go back to those days of being young and the memories he gave me. I retired to PA.. when I hear his music I go back to the days of being young. He gave me a lot of joy and memories I will never forget.

I have been searching for this song since the year 2000. Do you know how hard it is to find a song that has no words?. Just so happens it randomly came on a random radio station on my Sirius. my mouth was a gape the entire song and I could not breathe. 2019 has been a very strange year. I'm glad I got to end the decade by hearing this random crazy awesome song!

One of my all time favorites - I've been on that road before, winding its way down to the sea. But I'm just there for the ride.

I love how Herb could always be such a smooth lyrical trumpet player without screeching double c’s

Smooth as glass
Another car you pass
As you hit the gas
