I grew up Catholic, became Protestant and have been for the last 7-8 years… however, very very recently have my eyes been opened and my heart has softened to the teachings of the Orthodox Church. I am still learning and my heart still has a hard time accepting Marian doctrines. However, I have never been able to accept these ideas through catholic explanations, idk if it is the Lord opening my eyes, or maybe orthodox explanations are better and much more beautiful.. or both.
I am still learning and have been listening so much to Orthodox Ethos podcast, maybe every other day or so! Thank you Fr. Peter Heers 🙏

إِذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَا مَرْيَمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكِ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِّنْهُ اسْمُهُ الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَجِيهًا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ﴾ [آل عمران: ٤٥] قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿إذْ قالَتِ المَلائِكَةُ يا مَرْيَمُ إنَّ اللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكِ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِنهُ﴾ الآيَةَ، لَمْ يُبَيِّنْ هُنا هَذِهِ الكَلِمَةَ الَّتِي أُطْلِقَتْ عَلى عِيسى؛ لِأنَّها هي السَّبَبُ في وُجُودِهِ مِن إطْلاقِ السَّبَبِ وإرادَةِ مُسَبِّبِهِ، ولَكِنَّهُ بَيَّنَ في مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ أنَّها لَفْظَةُ كُنْ، وذَلِكَ في قَوْلِهِ: ﴿إنَّ مَثَلَ عِيسى عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ آدَمَ خَلَقَهُ مِن تُرابٍ ثُمَّ قالَ لَهُ كُنْ﴾ [آل عمران: ٥٩]، وقِيلَ: الكَلِمَةُ بِشارَةُ المَلائِكَةِ لَها بِأنَّها سَتَلِدُهُ واخْتارَهُ ابْنُ جَرِيرٍ، والأوَّلُ قَوْلُ الجُمْهُورِ.

- اذا فهذه الايه نفس الايه السابقه وهي ان الكلمه هنا هي الامر التكويني كن وهذا قول جمهور المفسرين وقيل قول اخر وهو ان الكلمه في تلك الايه هي بشارة الملائكه لها بانها ستلد وهذا قول الطبري وفيه نظر والاصح هو الاول وتدل عليه اية ال عمران ٥٩ واية النساء ١٧١

I am a Protestant shell converting to Orthodoxy, over 20 years ago (time irrelevant) I desecrated a statue of Mary. There seems to be a wall between myself and full understanding of her divinity. Why is the focus so intensive toward the Theotokos over the Christ that she bore? What's not said in word is shown in picture, whereas the only difference is in glossary of terms, as in veneration compared to worship; terms I've never differentiated from one another. How do I overcome this? Or am I being ignorant to the consequences of my actions?
(I failed to mention, it was not the statue that I desecrated but the Lord's mother as intended)
