Wednesday's launch by the Japan Space Agency failed, with the Epsilon rocket commanded to self-destruct around seven minutes after launch.

According to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, the Epsilon-6 rocket allegedly encountered a problem that prevented it from flying correctly.

The order was issued at 9:57 a.m., JAXA said after the rocket launched from Uchinoura Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture at around 9:50 a.m. It carried eight satellites created by various groups, including commercial companies and universities.
