I was 12… these songs bring back great memories of a perfect childhood!

I had a terrible childhood, my father was a violent drunk that showed me and my brother and sisters no love, but he did have great taste in music. I recognised most of these songs from his collection. He would bring his friends back from the pub and play this type of music until the early hours. You would think that I would not enjoy listening to this music now some 40 years later. But I found them to be a great comfort as a child and I do still. My own teenage years in the 1980's I sported an Elvis style quiff, much to the amusement of my new romantic friends. And the first album I ever bought was in 1984 and it was Eddie Cochrane's greatest hits. I was born in the wrong era I think.

I was only 10 years old in 1957. But we listened to the radio. Watched some of these artists on the Ed Sullivan Show. Wow. Paul Anka, Elvis Presley, Pat Boone and all those groups. Wonderful memories.

I grew up with this music, doing my homework and writing down each and every song in a notebook just to keep track of the songs Alan Freed played on the radio.
What a super time to be a teenager, honest, pure and happy fun.

Going to 60th class reunion in a few days and most of us were born in 1941. We talk about turning 14 in 1955 when Rock and Roll really hit the scene and getting our drivers license in 1957 and dreaming of owning a 57 Chevy or a 57 T-Bird. About half of us are still around and we feel 1941 was the perfect year to come into this world.

I was 12 in 57'. These songs inspired you to feel upbeat. We were so innocent and full of wonder that life was so, so exciting. Today's kids are missing so much.

In 1957 I was in the 5th grade. My brother who was in high school let me listen to his records and this video takes me back to this memory. My personal favorites were Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers and Paul Anka who was like this 16 year old phenom at the time. I remember watching Elvis performing Jail House Rock that’s part of this video on the EdSullivan show live....those were the days

Very enjoyable, born 1945 this is what THE music during the fifties was and now we are able to listen on spotify ( so cool ) .

You know this era will never be repeated , innovation of rock n roll , with mix of country sound and rhythm n blues and
not forgetting the invention of solid body electric guitars, being lead guitar - rhythm guitar and bass guitar .
Just the coolest era man . 👍
