One advantage of Malé being so dense is that walkability is maximized. You can walk from one end to the other in 20 mins max.

If you've ever been to the Netherlands, you will realize that nowhere in the country you can drive for 10 km and not hit a village or city. It is insane. The Randstad which includes the four biggest cities in the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag and Utrecht) spans over 3 provinces but is essentially one big city with a bit of green in the middle.

6:15 The Midwestern US (Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan) is not sparsely populated. You may be thinking of the Great Plains (North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma), to the west of the Midwest.

I liked the Nordics / Central Asia comparison, one stunning fact about them is that all of the Central Asian countries have lower year-round average temperatures than the Nordic ones! Central Asian winters are bitterly cold due to polar airmass coming down the steppes and also the high altitude mountains and these countries are among the world's coldest.

8:45 "...covers a distance..." (twice)
Nitpicks...
Distance is a linear measurement, for example kilometers. Area is a square measurement, for example kilometers squared. Bad to mix them up.
Division symbols e.g. "1.2M/KM²" is also an error.

We've visited Macau a couple of times, and it seemed to be more-or-less empty. There were people wandering around, just not that many. Not much traffic either.
Then, last time, we finally visited the square (not sure of the name, it's where the famous Egg Tarts are sold), and it was full to the brim. Thousands !!

You could have mentioned Manila as the most densely populated city on Earth. (If anyone has an updated information about this, let me know ❤)

Gilligan's Island only has a handful of people living on it, giving it a very low density of people.

8:11 Wrong photo!
That's Lagos and not Kinshasa.
Aside from that mismatch, very informative video!

I live in town of 1200 people, wich is the second largest town in northern Iceland, Akureyri being the largest with 20.000 inhabitants. Akureyri is the second largest in town the country. I can’t imagine living in one of these big cities. They look like ant hills.
