Regardless of the price difference, the price for both of them has just exploded beyond reason in my opinion. When Scott is offering an equivalent level bike with Dura Ace for 9000 this just seems like way too much

DO NOT buy either of these bikes. Absolute robbery it is.

Man the price hike is insane. last year I was debating between an Expert for $5500, a Caledonia 5 for $6500 or Prince for $5500, but wanted to see how new Di2 is like. Was leaning toward the Expert/Prince because the lack of difference for the price compared to the Caledonia, but with 2022 pricing it became Expert for $8300, Caledonia 5 $7300, and Prince $7500. Complete 180 swap on my top choices now as it sits Prince, Caledonia, Expert (if i can even stomach the price tag). Maybe I should just keep waiting and hope 105 Di2 comes out and lower the price of these bikes...

Still glad i bought the 2021 and dodged the $1200 hike. Thanks for the comparison, super helpful!

Hey man, I just want to give you a shout out of my appreciation for these videos, love watching your analysis and passion for these bikes

Fascinating. In Europe, the Expert costs 7000 Euros, while Pro is priced at 9200 Euros (all taxes included). That's roughly 8k USD vs 10500 USD, and the difference is much more obvious and, perhaps, it makes Expert a no-brainer choice.

I was a hardcore Specialized guy for a decade....they've completely lost me on the road / gravel / cross bike market. The prices they are charging are astronomical and simply can't be justified anymore. They are trying to turn themselves into the Gucci of bikes or something, I don't understand it. There is no performance or quality difference between Specialized bikes and any other brand. It's just stupid.

I’m going to come out and say it: this price hike over last model (pro model) is a deal breaker. I personally won’t buy a new mid tier bike from now on. This isn’t right.

Thnx for the comparison. Right now the Expert comes at a cost of 7000€ and Pro 9200€. The difference is huge here in western Europe. What are some of the best alternatives with same specs and (better) performance in your opinion?

This video goes back to the first comment you made. If people are new to the bike shoping experience then the pro makes the most sense as a "bang for your buck". If you are a customer who has followed these bikes through the pandemic and watch the prices compared to what they were then both seem outrageously priced.

Crazy prices! My 2020 sl6 came with the c38’s and di2 for $5500… pretty sure you can build the tarmac via frameset for less

Price in the UK is $1400 difference between models, I’ve just purchased the expert based on the groupset, wanting to move from sram to ultegra, my experience with fancy bars and lighter seats is minimal if even noticeable at the level I ride, decent wheels are always a big plus, maybe down the line if needed il upgrade the c38s. Great comparison video.

I’m so glad I got my 2021 Expert when I did. With upgrades (carbon wheels, power meter and roval rapid aero bars) it still came out to $6, 800. It’s insane to me that the pro doesn’t even come with tubeless ready wheels. There’s no way I’d buy either of those, I would just slowly upgrade a Comp.

This is why I would always choose to build up a frame set as opposed to letting the bike company choose for me. Will come out to the same price as these and you can get the exact buildout you want.

I have the expert that I purchased this year. Prices are inflated but I really didn’t have many options due to my height. I needed a 61 and believe it or not this was the only bike at that level available for me. I have the Roubaix in 61 which is a nice comfortable ride. The expert has given me the ability to climb and maintain speed more aggressively. I really do enjoy the expert.

Another great video. You are doing a good job. You are loyal to your brands and care to educate the consumer. Unlike most of the channels out there. All the beat gc performance

Shimano Ultegra ships with 52/36 chainrings and 11/30, 12 speed cassette (lowest gear ratio is 1.2)...Sram is shipped with 48/35 chainrings and 10/33 cassette giving you the possibility of 1.06 gear ratio with the availability of 10/36 cassette for an extra $185 (the same SRAM derailleur). If you are going to ride strictly in flatland, Shimano is smoother and quieter to run, if you are going to ride in hilly or mountainous terrain, SRAM is the way to go...going uphill becomes an aerobic exercise, you find a comfortable gear and spin at your own pace..I hope that helps. What do you think GC?

I'd still take the Expert for that Shimano Ultegra 12sp tbh. I'd prob just swap out the wheels and add a single sided 4iiiis power meter or something.
