Chainsaw Man Fans are WRONG about Himeno

Chainsaw Man fans especially Hayakawa Aki and Angel Devil shippers like to paint Himeno in a really bad light, when Himeno and Aki have one of the most wholesome relationship that plays a major development for both their characters. She's also one of the few that realize how Aki is very empathetic and warms up to both Power and Denji extremely early. Completely agree. Only thing I’ll add is that Himeno developing feelings for Aki over time wasn’t an IF, she DID. She literally asks Denji to help her get with him, and the night before, she shows signs of jealousy while she was drunk and talking about how Aki needs to get over Makima.

I hate how people disrespect this character because despite how little time she was in the story, she’s one of the most memorable parts for me. Her death honestly changed the entire course of the story. On the surface, it showed that no one was safe, but on a deeper level, it’s what triggered both Denji and Aki’s eventual shift in perspective.

Denji began to ponder on if he had a heart—what it meant to be human or if he could even consider himself that, and Aki started to realize that his thirst for revenge was preventing him from living—literally and figuratively. It’s ironic how while seeking vengeance he only experienced more loss.

I don’t think any of these story beats would’ve landed as well as they did if Himeno wasn’t there in the beginning. She had her own flaws but she was truly one of the most human characters in all of Chainsaw Man. She was exactly who Denji wanted to be and what Aki needed to be—it’s just neither knew it.

Himeno is a weird character. You’re right about the part with Aki; she didn’t groom him. We don’t even know their ages. However, she’s still insanely creepy for doing that to Denji. Even when drunk, she knew his age. She even laughed about it the morning after.

I wouldn't quite say she's a groomer but she's insanely irresponsible for almost sleeping with a minor and then encouraging said minor to get into a relationship with an adult woman. Being drunk is no excuse, cause if a drunk adult man attempted to sleep with an underage girl, everyone would have a problem with it. Let's not have double standards now.

Also like, csm just has really realistic characters. Himeno isn’t supposed to be moral and righteous, and neither is anybody in chainsaw man. Himeno is a weirdo sometimes, but she’s also written as somebody who can’t control themselves when their drunk, somebody who likes being fun and light hearted, somebody who likes and cares for other people. The weird obsession with moral characters is what keeps authors from taking risks and writing real people who sometimes do bad things. I don’t even think Himeno really did anything awful, other than the “let’s do it” and vomit kiss. I just wish we didn’t need to keep writing heroes and morally right people, and that we can start/continue writing Humans.

Crazy how Himeno gets negative attention this faster than Makima's for those who only watched the anime. Like the red flags of Makima's grooming was there from the start. Also another proof of Himeno not being a pedo is that when Himeno wants to do it on denji at one scene, He literally said no and She was fine with it. If that was grooming then there would have been some subtle coercion.

Bruh it may not be grooming, but it's still inappropriate and wrong of her to try and sleep with denji. Makima is worse, but himeno was still in the wrong even if she didn't know his age. He's still a minor and it would have been a crime if denji didn't stop her.

Reading the comments and differing opinions and such, I think it's pretty interesting the sides people are taking. From what I've seen there are 4 kinds of people: People that like himeno's character because they think that she would be a fine person irl, the people that hate himeno's character because of the opposite, people that like himeno's character because they know how far Fujimoto will go and know that her faults are child's play, and people that don't give a shit either way. It's a natural extension of the sheer popularity and range the series has achieved. So many people from so many different places with different ideas and contexts. I respect your opinion either way, and am glad so many people are enjoying the story.
