Fishman Fluence Single-coil Pickups Review by Sweetwater

Don Carr demonstrates Fishman's Fluence Single Coil pickups with a Fender Strat. Fishman’s Fluence pickups don’t use wound coils, they use printed layers that work in the same fashion, positioned around magnets. The result is a sonically “ideal” pickup, with no noise or hum problems. Then, using their years of experience shaping the sound of acoustic guitar pickups, Fishman applies a preamp that recreates the signature of whatever vintage or modern pickup they want - you can even switch sonic profiles for a pickup on the fly to have multiple sounds in the same guitar.

Great! Now we need to design a pedal that add "hum" to my vintage tone.

THANX, I like the Sweetwater approach and style to get these demos online. And really am now gonna test drive these pickups on a vintage 75 strat...and get back to recording instead of trying to rationalize vintage hum and the time consumed by not being able to eliminate it in a conventional setting. welcome to the present...keep up the excellent work !

I wish you could customize the 2 voices. It feels very doable.

I put these on a Player Strat, they sound awesome. I can pull the Tone for Voice 2 when I am in the mood for some TexMex!

Greg Koch is working on a signature Tele set. Are you going to demo these when they are released?

Those sound great. I've heard nothing but good regarding Fishman Fluence.
What is that tune you're playing on the intro and outro? Sounds really good.

I heard there is an option for a 2nd push/pull pot in the middle tone position...is this true ? if so do you have a part number ?

Can either of these settings do a good 70s rock tone like Richie Blackmore?

Very interesting information about the fact that the PUs work like a buffer ! Great !

You didn't say anything about the "HF Tilt" connector (blue) or the "Voice Select" (Gray) - I assume you have "voice select" set to the switch on you pot #3.

The one thing I never liked about active pickups is that when you turn the volume down, it's the same exact sound, it just gets quieter. With passive pickups, when you roll the volume off, the sound changes completely. Unfortunately while I love the tones from these pickups, it appears they have the same problem as all other active pickups, in that specific regard.

These really do sound like a classic strat pickup.

I love the sound of these things, I need to get my hands on a set.

Sounds good and all but how does the preamp interact with fuzz, vintage fx or any other effects that do not react well with a buffer or low impedence signal? I cannot live without my fuzzers! :)

The only downside is mini USB . USB C should be the industry standard by now. Charging 2 or 3 times a year its not a deal killer. I'm still sold
