Boosting or cutting with a broad Q is very similar to a shelf. You just set the center frequency of the bell lower or higher than the shelf. And proportional Q is like API EQs. Being able to use both shapes in one EQ is super useful.

I do like your down to earth reviews, its good knowing that we are all the same with gear, trying to work out what the hell it does.

it would have been nice to listen to some examples man :) and to see you using it ;)

It is a bit disappointing to hear such review. You have not done your homework before hand. This is not a review, merely a poor opinion.

Maybe by linking both sides one becomes the master L or R ? As we can find in others maybe a DPR 402 comp or a Drawmer, but I don't remember...sorry!

This is good information to know about it being a bit tough getting used to using. I've been curious about this piece for a while, but there's so little about it out there... I'm mostly eyeing their PassEQ. Looks like they'll be releasing an updated version any day now. Did you feel there's much to the 120volt rail tech?

Accurate review, Streaky. The knobs are indeed a bit fiddly and using this EQ comfortably takes a little time. The Prop Q mode basically makes the amount of boost dependent on the bandwidth (Q) setting, not unlike a Massive Passive in that way. It's a little counter intuitive at first but can sound very sweet and musical compared to constant Q after careful experimentation, especially in the midrange. I've found the unit adds a bit of a forward attack in general as well, kind of helps transients poke through a bit sharper in combination with the Buzz REQ I also have here. Keep up the great work, love these videos!

Wow I'm really disagreeing with that review here..."it's not got any kind of flavor"...the Const Q mode sounds even warmer than my Manley Massive Passive...and the link is actually linking the switches thanks to relays inside, not the frequencies at all...I think you obviously miss the point with that monster, my 2 cents.

how would it compare to the "Manley Massive Passive"?

I mainly hear you complain about the knobs. So many ME use the PQ or the Passeq nowadays that it would have been nice to do your homework before posting a video about it. Good channel overall but a clearly pointless review. I agree with other posts here: how can you even do an Eq review without any sound ??? What does it even mean ???
You don't even mention that it works on the 120V rail technology Spl developed ...

I really wanted to like this Eq but it just didn’t do it for me at all.
