I've heard of people being fired this way. Intercepted at the entrance when their card doesn't work. Hustled into a little office where their personal belongings await in a box. A few emasculating neutral words that mean "you're fired." A signature or two, a cold handshake, and then a guided walk out of the building. Just -69C.

This was so icy. See a man. Push him into the ocean. He struggles to stay afloat. Offer him a hand. He takes the hand. Finds out it was a disembodied hand, that belonged to the only woman he ever loved. Leave him with the hand in the middle of the ocean.

Stephen Tobolowsky is such an under-appreciated actor. I love his expression after Gavin's ID card is disabled. It's smug, victorious, and seems to say, "You've been treating me like shit and now you're going to get your comeuppance."

I'm glad they showed Jack Barker standing up to Gavin. He was downplayed in this season compared to last one, where he was literally ruthless. Shows Gavin isn't the only player.

I know how that feels, to be betrayed in the same corporate setup. I commend the writing team for putting this scene in the show, this is a reality that's still happening to this day.

So funny, this is 1985 Steve Jobs vs John Sculley. Jobs hired Sculley, Sculley pushed Jobs out... and then Jobs founded NeXT and made the operating system for macs which Apple desperately needed and when Apple bought NeXT Jobs became the CEO of Apple again.. Lol

And there was nothing that he could do about it. Barker was an action man, and Gavin wasn’t. And he had to sit still and take it. It was among the CEOs. It was real Valley shit. They even closed the doors on Gavin, so he couldn’t walk away from it all.
