"The gauge for how well you are doing should be how much fun you are having" - ugh I needed to hear that! Such great advice. I haven't uploaded a video for over a month due to the fear of the next video not being "perfect" or "good enough". Did you experience blocks through perfectionism tendencies? Do you think being a perfectionist helped you strive in some ways?

I love what you had to say about everyone’s personality being of equal value and having potential to succeed on YouTube! I’ve binged so many of these kinds of videos and 95% of them say that you either have it or you don’t, which I think can feel disheartening if you feel like your personality doesn’t “fit” what you commonly see on YT! It’s so true that authenticity is ultimately the end goal & that people will resonate with you the most, when you’re simply being yourself, regardless of how outgoing/funny/charismatic you are. Thank you for your words of wisdom! xx

Know your WHY, be yourself and don't take things too seriously. That's something we all need to gravitate towards. Good luck, everyone! 💜

I love when creators make videos like this! Every point was spot on and honestly just hearing encouragement from someone who has been doing YouTube for a while gives a lot of reassurance that the process of making it into a job/hobby will be worth it and fulfilling! Thanks Rowenaaa 💓

I like to go to my favorite content creator and look at their oldest videos (that are still available) and see how they started in comparison. It gives me confidence seeing how much they've grown proves to me that I will grow too

I've watched a lot of "how to start a successful channel" vids and this spoke to me on a different level. As someone just starting their journey on this platform, every bit of advice you gave seemed to help ground me internally in some way. I especially loved the part where you talked about how there's space on the platform for people of all kinds of personalities and growth comes from showing your authentic self. Thank you so much for this video!

YES! I love what you said about personality! I don't believe 'you either have a personality or you don't' I used to believe things like Youtube wasn't for me because of experiences & ideas/messages I got in my childhood. I thought you had to be loud & extroverted and naturally be good at expressing yourself on camera. It's been a journey to lean into who I am and expressing that on camera!

All in all great tips I wished I had known when I started out! At the time most videos like from bigger creators this was all about the camera and the gear which isn't overly helpful when you just start out as it's soo much more to it. Also, I started filming with my iPhone with no memory whatsoever... (it drove me insane, and then my camera on my phone broke!) but you start with what you got! 😉

this could not have come at a better time for me, as I'm a few weeks into my endeavor into taking my channel seriously and making videos regularly for the first time. thank you rowena ❤️

I just started my own channel and at first I was so nervous and hard on myself. ( I mean I was MEAN TO ME).
But then I decided to just have fun, and now I literally get gut excited to create new content. I get to share my healing and joy seeking process, and I can inspire even one person to find their bliss along side me then it's a win-win.✨✨

I'm taking a rest from vlogging for a month now and needed some inspirations to get back. It's like I'm having "creative block". So I decided to start from the beginning. From why do I vlog to editing stuff. It's easy to find inspirations, but at the end of the day, I have to be patient, persistent and keep on trying new things. And as you've mentioned: Don't take yourself too seriously, be yourself, have fun!. Thank you for this wonderful video. 🌸

Thank you so much, Rowena! 😍 I've been a subs to your channel for years and I absolutely love every single one of your videos. When the thought of starting a YouTube channel came to my mind, you and Aileen Xu were the first ones that popped into my mind.
Thank you so much for this video!!! 🤗 I'll take this as a sign from the universe to ACTUALLY start a youtube channel.
