I always loved how the *perfect* alibi was the first thing to make Columbo suspicious.

An alibi is fine, but a _perfect_ alibi? Barely anyone in the world is that lucky, let alone that one person in every mystery Columbo undertakes

Columbia tactics behind catching his killers is so fun to watch. He plays dumb at first to lure them into a false sense of security and they give away clues because of how overconfident they feel. Then as he gets deeper and deeper he plays the nuisance to them making the killer frustrated and revealing even more clues than before eventually leading up to their arrest.
