Goku went from "there's a point where extra training is just torturing your body" to "lets train for 3 years for the heck of it". Goku's power went up but intelligence went way down.

Alot of people don't realise this, but what truly makes vegeta an amazing anime character, is his character development. Very few characters go through countless subtle changes over the course of many years, untill they are almost entirely different from once they were first created. I personally think Vegeta is truly underrated.

One thing I'll give Super credit for...Goku and Vegeta never sparred together to train until Super. It does make sense that they both skyrocketed in power once they started training together consistently for the first time in their lives.
