I worked for an hvac guy in the summer and we painstakingly disassembled the ax units for the copper, radiator, and compressors. With about 7 disassembled units we made over $800

I used to own a car wash. Once someone stole one of my steel pit covers. They probably made $20-30 on the scrap. Cost me around $600 and a several hours of work to replace it.

If you take the time to separate metals, you can make a lot more money. Copper, aluminium, stainless steel, etc. It can be very lucrative, but it's also dirty and heavy work most of the time.

I was at this same recycling plant, MCR, like, maybe 2 weeks ago. They gave us 60 bucks for almost twice what you dropped. Don't use MCR. Their prices fluctuate like CRAZY. And yes, we were dumping in the same pile as you :)

In germany you have to be lucky to not PAY money to get rid of old metal. Thats why people over here steal massive amounts of copper cables from traintracks because thats the only way to get money from scrap metal
