One misconception about Las Vegas is that it's only about gambling and shows. There are many other things to do. Some of my favorites are people-watching, long walks at night, the Mob Museum, and the Pinball Hall of Fame.

I live in rural Alaska, and I have visited Vegas 3 times so far and plan to visit every year. A week there is cheaper than a week in Alaska, not to mention it's the opposite of where I live.

Thanks for the update on the lies about LV.
Every time I visit in Dec or Jan I always see someone in shorts and flip flops freezing because they think the desert/LV is always hot. What is weird is that most of these people also have smart phones and can check the weather before they head to LV.

The hotels are not affordable because they add resort fees at check in and unless you are on the strip food is limited

Vegas neighbors tend to keep to themselves, but are always welcome to help. Lived there 19 years and made friends with all my neighbors. They did their thing and I did mine but when needing help, we were always there for each other.

Y’all need to bring extra layers, any time of year. The indoor air conditioning can get quite chilly, even in the middle of the summer.

In my 50's I used to vacay in LV for a week 2X a year for 10 years. But turning 60 I quit. The reason was the all day air travel ordeal from back east here. Drive to the airport, find a place in long term parking, get the shuttle to the terminal. Check my bag at the curb then a long walk to go thru TSA and another long trek to my gate where they want you to check in an hour before the flight. Finally you board the plane for a 5 hour flight. After deplaning another long walk to baggage claim, Then another shuttle to the rental car place find your car and drive to the casino. Then another long line to check in before finally collapsing in the room. At the end of the week you do the whole thing again in reverse going home plus losing 3hrs with the time zones. I can drive to Atlantic City door to door in 3hrs flat in my own comfort. I did that many times before going to check out Vegas, I'm not doing all that anymore. AC ain't LV but it'll do.

We really enjoy Chinatown and mostly avoid the strip anymore. There is so much food diversity in Vegas, its very good
