So, since this is going to keep coming up — Yes, it is obviously James Earl Jones's voice as Darth Vader. BUT, Respeecher, the tool that was used to help create Luke's voice in The Mandalorian is also credited at the end of the episode. Yeah, it is technically JEJ's voice as Darth Vader, but, we don't know if they actually had the actor record brand new dialogue as the character OR if they used samples from original trilogy material to create new dialogue. The Deadline article that keeps being referenced only states the obvious, that he voices Vader. That's not a confirmation that JEJ recording new dialogue. Either way, this once again leads us to the conversation if this level of detail is necessary just for the sake of continuity.

This was Obi-Wan at his lowest. All the weight of his failure coupled with seeing the monster Anakin has become absolutely shattered him. It was basically the opposite of his duel with Maul in Rebels.

I love how they teased us so much with Obi Wan turning on the lightsaber. And, consistent with the broken character they had shown us, he didn't turn in on in some epic heroic standoff. Vader was chasing him in the dark, Obi Wan was terrified, and he turned it on as a glorified flashlight.

Vader is doing to Kenobi what he feels Kenobi did to him. Vader is maiming Kenobi, letting him linger in anguish. Like Cary Elwes' character in The Princess Bride...this is not a fight to the death, but "to the pain." Some people were complaining that the fire should not have stopped Vader and he would be more aggressive. This is not a good take, since the direction this series is taking is that Vader (and his minions) clearly want Kenobi to suffer more than any person has suffered. Moreover, an even worse form of anguish (as demonstrated in the Saw films) is to let someone have an ounce of hope so they do not give up and give in to death. Vader is going full evil in this series and Kenobi is at the pointy end of it. I think this is brilliant storytelling.

I like how Obi-Wan imagining Anakin being there is also a reference to Obi-Wan's fear, he has no idea at the time what Anakin's physical condition was.

Vader was straight up playing with his prey in this.

The bickering and scheming among the Inquisitors is proof of why the Rule Of Two was necessary. They may not be Sith in name but the behavior is the same

This was the warm up, obi-wan has not been fighting for 10 years and Darth Vader was toying with him, like he was pray. It made perfect sense to me that this happend. Obi-wan just found out Anakin is alive, the horror, trauma and guilt will overwhelm him. He will get beter and then he will kick ass!

Calling it now: Reva wants to get close to Vader so that she can kill him for his assault on the younglings at the temple. It’s all a long con for her to get close enough to get to avenge her friends.

Until obi accepts his guilt, grief, and pain to bring himself back to balance will he stop his fear and and know who he is and be able to move forward, and will be able to stand tall with Vader once more

Not since that scene in Rogue One have you really seen why Darth Vader was so feared in Episode 4. When he's just killing random people to lure Obi Wan out of hiding, that shows how horrifying Darth Vader was always portrayed to be. Crazy episode.

It was really moving for me when they mentioned Quinlan Vos. I've had this nickname for the last 15 years because I found Quinlan so awesome.

I feel like Obi Wan is going to go and get better and heal and somehow connect himself back to the force, then he and Darth Vader will have another show down where it's going to be more bad ass. Either way, excited to see!!

I bawled like a baby when Leia asked if Obi Wan was her dad. I never knew my father. I never realized how much I relate to Leia and Luke.

Vader only let Obi-Wan go because he was extremely disappointed with his desired revenge. When he saw through the fire how pathetic Obi-Wan had become that he needed the help of the others, he was taken aback. He was bewildered by Obi-Wan's inability to fight and decided to give Kenobi the chance for the real battle he had been craving for all these 10 years.

People are not understanding how out of balance Obi Wan is... he can't fight until he accepts his failures, which will come... patience.
