I feel like it makes sense after the new retcon.
Like goku in the goku black arc asks gowasu about the fusion time limit as if he didn't understand but in daima shin explained that it was majin buu.
So realistically he shouldn't have a reason to ask, unless vegito returns again and defuse to raise suspicion
