The ship was simply trying to warn the local birds.

"It's either going to be fastball or slider, good luck"
Randy Johnson:

Hahaha hahaha...that foghorn allowed him to throw the perfect palm ball. That would have surprised anyone.
I got to see him pitch in person once back in 1999. He was a two pitch pitcher...a near 100mph fastball and a 83mph slider. It was awe-inspiring. When I saw the two starting pitchers on the display, I said...Randy Johnson!? Is that THE Randy Johnson? Someone behind me said, yes that's THE Randy Johnson.
The Phillies pitcher did well too. It was scoreless until the 7th inning when Randy started getting tired and left a hanger that was hit out of the park for a two run homer. The Phillies won, but I think those were the only runs in the game. But still, it was great to see Randy in his prime.

The Big Unit! I’m from north Seattle and this is our best pitcher of all time and we’ve had a few. Miss this giant with Dan Wilson behind home plate. Good old days. So glad we have a good team again worth watching. Been a 20 year dry spell.

I caught the Big Unit back in 1986 before Spring Training. He came to USC with Bert Blylevan. He was teaching Johnson to throw a breaking pitch!!!

This guy is as magic. Like when the bird flew into one of his fastballs so he could reach nirvana quicker.

I was so blessed to see on avg half of his Az starts from 2001-2004 as we bought a season ticket package with my dads two business partners & he would let me pick all the games i wanted first. Only condition is i could only take one game from each series & you pick from the begining of the season so if an injury occured or something occurred to throw off the rotation too bad. Honestly though my dads business partners both lived 30+ miles from downtown & owned a construction company so after working 5am-5pm the last thing any of them wanted to do was drive into phx at rush hr to get home late when they had work the next day. If i went to every game i got offered i prob would have avg 60games a season but i had work too. But i never turned down a randy johnson or curt schilling start. Dont worry the rest of my life has been absolute shit.

You can tell the age of people by how they remember this badass. Plenty of you remember the bird, but that is just part of his ass whippings handed out from the mound. Dude was a monster

Randy wasn't just overpowering. He was pretty smart. The ironic thing is that according to RJ, it was tips from Nolan Ryan that helped RJ fix his mechanics and improve his control before his breakout 1993 season at the age of 30. The strikeouts went up, the walks went down and the rest was history.

Randy never really developed a true changeup, but when your fastball can hit 100, a 90 mph slider works pretty well as a change and it worked so well as his "out" pitch that it came to be known as "Mr. Nasty". It confused many hitters and Phil Nevin told a story about how one of Johnson's sliders fooled him so badly he struck out on a pitch that almost hit him!

Can't lie. Randy Johnson is one of my favorites. He was a beast. He made baseball entertaining. That's not a small feat.

Randy Johnson is just one of those players you remember very distinctly from childhood, wish he was better with the Yankees but a great career !

The Big Unit had a 95mph slider . My man was dangerous.

To be a left handed 6'10" side armed pitcher to a majority of right handed hitters was absolutely UNFAIR! Randy "Big Unit" Johnson

Yeah you don’t have to outthink the batters when you pitch with a fkn cannon 🍻

Notice Bonds is wearing #24 which he wore for a very brief time before wearing his signature #25. #24 was the number Willie Mays wore, Barry's Godfather.
