Newbie above ground pool owners. Got iron (brown) all in the pool - followed the video directions and in less than 12 hrs it was crystal clear! Perfect water now! Really do appreciate you making this for all to see. Now trying to find a good video on the proper care of the pool - don't want to have to repeat all of this again - but we are ready to if needed. Thanks again!

It works! I drained my pool because of a terrible algae problem that would not go away. Filled the pool with our municipal water to only have terrible brown iced tea looking water with horrible black sediment at the bottom. I ran this setup for 24 hours and didn't see much of a difference. I decided I would give it 24 more hours. I woke up this morning and the pool is picture perfect. Going to let it go another few hours and then check out what the poly fill looks like. Awesome filtration system!

This idea was a life saver. I had iron in my well water. Turned a dark brown after shocking it. This cleared it up in a day. Also used it again to clear cloudy water after using algaecide

Ive done this is the past, but I sped it up by vacuuming the bottom. That pulled the sediment right out and it was clear in maybe 2 days.

My new go to when filling the pool with my well pump is to use inline RV filters on the hose. Cost about $40 for a 4 pk and I use 1 a year. So I save a lot of money running the pool filter for days vs whats basically a $10 filter. Then random fills don't let more in that I have to clean up.

absolutely freaking perfect!!! I was searching all night for a way to clean my kids 8' x 30" pool since we have well water and this worked like a charm. I dont have an actual pool pump hooked up so I used a bilge pump and it worked great! you rock!!

I folded a strip of polyester quilt batting into six layers, and laid it on top of the filter basket. The pump pulls the pool water though the batting, then the filter. Every couple of hours I shut off the pump, carefully removed the batting and filter, and sprayed them clean with the hose, and returned them to the skimmer. After only twelve hours, our pool is way less orangey-yellow, and less rust to clean off the batting and filter.
Even though some of the rust melts back into the skimmer when I remove the batting, the method is working quite well!

Were we skeptical, yes, but this is just about the only solution online other than drain and get a water truck. We did pre-filter our well water when filling with a Hayward bobby filter and still we had very, very dark water when adding chlorine. You couldn't see through the water more than a couple inches. We tried this and can't believe it works so well. We used 2 buckets with an extra pump to speed up the process on our 6000 gallon pool. If everything continues as it has been, we should be swimming tomorrow, so 48hrs. We did rinse the polyfill once and totally replaced it another time. Not sure if we needed to but we were trying to rush the process. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for your video. I did this yesterday and in 24 hours I have a crystal clear pool again after it looked like a mud hole.

Bought a new pool for the son and the well water was horribly brown. You couldn't even see the bottom of the pool. Tried the trick figuring what do I have to lose. My son is now currently swimming in his new pool with amazingly clear water. Thanks!!

Trying this but with a 5 gallon water jug instead. Just hooked it up tonight in my 16'x48'' pool. Wish me luck. Thanks for the idea.

Thank you so much! We have hard well water and had brown pool water. Made this filter and two days later the water was clear!

we never had a problem with rust until we got rid of our Polaris. The polaris is important because it stirs up the water / sediments and allows the filter to capture the contaminants.

I'm about to fill my pool with well water. I want to try your set up as I'm filling my pool. Do you think it will work? Also will my water turn brown/red again after shocking or adding chlorine? Thanks for the great video!

We shocked the pool and turned it brown, used your method and the pool is completely clear. I'm confused tho, will the pool still turn brown everytime we shock it??? Or did we filter out all of the rust/iron the first time we did this???

I also added to the pillow stuffing old towels and clothes that were garbage. Also you can use old blankets.

Did you run your pump 24 hours for the 4 days? Our water is like this but nothing seems to settle to the bottom.
