Since you asked for a little background: I used to teach introductory Java for Sun Microsystems, before it was bought up by Oracle. I had only learnt the language in order to teach a C-programmer how it worked, whilst I was managing the business side of a small startup. I then trained a few more transitioning programmers and was then contacted by Sun and taught their SL275 course on a regular basis. I am now learning Kotlin as a side-project, with a view to using it for teaching, probably within schools/colleges. I’m curious about finding the best approach and how it might differ for programming newbies, those who have done some simple procedural programming and those who are happy with Object Oriented Programming.

I’m just 15 minutes in and so far this is wonderful.
