Fantano having a physical copy of Angelic 2 The Core might be the least surprising revelation of all time

Oh boy, that sure is a crazy title. Sure hope it's not just a video about Angelic 2 The Core by Corey Feldman not being available on streaming.

This is actually awful news. I loved putting lovin lies on the playlist during road trips and always getting "who tf picked this song?" When it came on. That is now a tradition of the past 😔

In all serious, all memeing aside - having your favourite stuff being taken down from the internet at a moment's notice is a very real problem, and a silently tragic one. People say 'everything on the internet is there forever' but that isn't the case at all. Some things stick around forever - often, things you *don't* want out there. The things we love, though? Those can disappear at any time; certainly if it's more niche or obscure - which is very applicable to me and presumably everyone here, as music nerds.

It's a fundamental flaw with relying on streaming music, generally remotely accessing media from servers you aren't in control of, and really just, not having local files and/or physical copies of what you love. It's one reason I don't actually rely on streaming to listen to 'my library', I have it all stored as files on my PC (two copies of my library of course - always back up your data!) and my phone. It's less convenient for sure (it could honestly be less convenient for me personally; a collection of physical media is not something I've ever been in the right circumstances for, practically), but damn, I know it will basically always be there in the state I want it to be, and I'm not at the mercy of copyright law or servers shutting down causing me to lose access to it. The thought of ever losing access to... really any music I value at all, but certainly the stuff I love enough to download, is a terrifying prospect to me; as is the concept of media becoming completely lost within an instant, which can and does happen. There are certain songs from my favourite artists that even I have never heard, because they're next to impossible to find anywhere online, let alone in decent quality.

If you love something you find online, find a way to download or obtain a physical copy of it if possible, because it won't be there forever.

Angelic to the Core is a reference to his first name Corey. I get it now.

This is precisely the exact reason I have a massive collection of blu-rays and DVDs, because the same thing happens to movies & TV, if not at a significantly worse level.

torrents probably did more to keep music alive than streaming ever did. I'd even argue streaming has stolen more from artists more than pirates ever did.

This is a real thing. The other day, I went on Spotify to pick a song to send someone. I opened the deadmau5 album Random Album Title and learned that the album mix of "Faxing Berlin" has inexplicably disappeared. I don't know why, but it's just gone. So now I can't listen to the album in its entirety. It's bizarre.

2:45 You can always create a "physical copy" of all your music on a flash drive, doesn't have to be all fancy vinyls and such, especially when that can be quite expensive (and less practical). And since it's so easily to duplicate, you can have hundreds of backups so that your descendants can diss your taste for generations.

I got a CD player when I moved out of my parents' for college that holds 51 discs. It's great being able to curate my CD collection and know that even if Joni Mitchell doesn't have music on Spotify, I have Blue on CD.

I have a whole space on my PC dedicated to content preservation, not just for music but for YT vidoes that i love and revisit often... you just never know and i wanna revisit stuff that most likely will be gone years down the line

CDs can be dirt cheap. I'm too broke for vinyl right now, but there's definitely value in physical media if you grew up with it.

The weirdest shit about this is randomly today the chorus to Ascension Millenium popped into my head and that hasn't happened in like 2+ years. Him removing the album from streaming was truly felt around the world.
