I loved J.D.Souther.. My favorite song he wrote and sang solo was and always will be "When You're Only Lonely". I know he wrote songs for the Eagles and other's. He was also asked to join the Eagles but told them that they sounded magnificent and didnt need him..He co-wrote Heart Of The Matter with Bob Segar. Of the songs he wrote for the Eagles, New Kid In Town has always been my favorite. He sang back up for his idol Roy Orbison for awhile. He loved Roy's song Only The Lonely so he set down and wrote When You're Only Lonely. I still have my little 45 vinyl record. It is priceless to me. I never got to see him.perform in person , just in vdeos and he had the kindest eye's and seemed a gentle soul. He was a legend and his music will live on forever. Our loss is Heaven's gain as J.D. is once again singing with his friend Glenn Frey...just like they did at their beginnig before the Eagles were created.
