I can’t believe how bad the Times’ coverage has been this election cycle. The constant focus on the horse race as opposed to the real issues facing the American people is a pretty big sign of just how far mainstream media has fallen in this country

When tariffs are applied to a broad range of imports, they can lead to unintended consequences for exports, too. Here’s why: when one country places tariffs on many imports, it often prompts other countries to retaliate by setting their own tariffs on goods they import from us. This ‘tit-for-tat’ tariff cycle can reduce demand for our exports, as other countries now find our products more expensive.

In addition, higher prices from tariffs can increase production costs for domestic manufacturers who rely on imported materials. This makes it harder for them to compete internationally because their products become more expensive to produce. So, wide-ranging tariffs can end up reducing both our ability to sell goods abroad and making our goods less competitive on the global market.

Nothing spells out the problem with American media more than this. Even before diving into the video, you automatically knew how this was going to go down

Understanding Tariffs and Why They Impact Prices"

There's often confusion about tariffs and how they affect everyday costs, so let's break it down simply.

When a tariff (or tax) is added to an imported good, the cost for businesses to buy these goods goes up. Imagine a company that imports steel to make appliances. With a tariff, the price of that steel increases, which means it costs more for the company to make their products. To cover those extra costs, the company usually raises the price on the appliances they sell – and that higher price eventually lands with us, the consumers.

This isn't limited to one product. When tariffs affect a range of goods (especially essentials or raw materials), they drive up prices across the board. This can lead to inflation, where prices rise broadly in the economy, making everything more expensive.

Additionally, tariffs can reduce competition. If imported goods are taxed heavily, it sometimes allows local companies to charge more, knowing they face less price pressure from foreign goods. This lack of competition also contributes to higher prices.

Tariffs may have their purposes, but it's important to understand that they don't come without costs. Those costs often impact everyday consumers and add to inflation.

Lot of hue & cry was raised against misuse of EVMs in haryana state elections results about a month ago. EVMs results were totally opposite to what leading newspapers "exit polls" had predicted giving clear 2/3 rd majority to congress & wipe out of BJP. Elon Musk internationally known expert on AI electronics matters says EVMs can be manipulated easily. On that people say elections commission of India & even CJI was not fair in his decision of blindly throwing away PILs on the misuse of EVMs matters.
