There's often confusion about tariffs and how they affect everyday costs, so let's break it down simply.

When a tariff (or tax) is added to an imported good, the cost for businesses to buy these goods goes up. Imagine a company that imports steel to make appliances. With a tariff, the price of that steel increases, which means it costs more for the company to make their products. To cover those extra costs, the company usually raises the price on the appliances they sell – and that higher price eventually lands with us, the consumers.

This isn't limited to one product. When tariffs affect a range of goods (especially essentials or raw materials), they drive up prices across the board. This can lead to inflation, where prices rise broadly in the economy, making everything more expensive.

Additionally, tariffs can reduce competition. If imported goods are taxed heavily, it sometimes allows local companies to charge more, knowing they face less price pressure from foreign goods. This lack of competition also contributes to higher prices.

Tariffs may have their purposes, but it's important to understand that they don't come without costs. Those costs often impact everyday consumers and add to inflation.

Lot of hue & cry was raised against misuse of EVMs in haryana state elections results about a month ago. EVMs results were totally opposite to what leading newspapers "exit polls" had predicted giving clear 2/3 rd majority to congress & wipe out of BJP. Elon Musk internationally known expert on AI electronics matters says EVMs can be manipulated easily.
