Unleash the Power Within 🚀 Is Tony Robbins priming you?

Tony Robbins is one of the most recognized personalities in the personal growth and personal power space, but do his methods work?

Priming in psychology is where one stimulus, or trigger, influences a response to a subsequent stimulus. Priming happens without conscious guidance or intention. In NLP this is known as anchoring.

A central part of the Robbins seminar experience is the firewalking ritual, which his participants describe as life-changing. The premise is that if you can walk on fire, you can do anything.

What is being taught in a Robbins book or seminar, and can you safely apply these strategies to your life and for your business success?

I haven't attended any of Tony Robin's events, so I can't comment too much. However I think there is a difference between a top CEO making a hasty decision VS an aspiring entrepreneur making quick decisions. I mentor entrepreneurs and at this starting point of their journey, it is all about making fast decisions, taking giant steps, questioning the status quo, and taking risks that otherwise would not be possible if you are a big company and as you describe in charge of hundreds if not thousands.
I think certainly both methods are correct Yours for the TOP CEOs and when it comes to possibly the startup world and entrepreneurs, I would have to go with Tony Robin's view.

I have learnt something new from your presentation about priming which I did not know. So keep them coming pls.

Great stuff Andrew,
I love the last part where you say, 'You can change your life. Just don't give the power away to anyone else.'

Interesting perspective, Andrew. I appreciate you balancing the good with the bad and allowing the viewer to make their own conclusion from the information provided.

Good video Andrew and you make a fair analysis of the pros and cons.
I’m one of those who ‘love him’ - but not blindly and I agree that not all his methods will work for everyone and the suggestion that if one does A, B and C it will ‘fix you’ may lead to greater disappointment, sense of failure etc especially for those who are so hungry for quick fixes or lack in self awareness and critical thinking. Because of the amount of information that is now so readily available to us, having the ability to filter what is important, relevant and heathy, it’s vital. TR is not anyone’s Guru - it’s down to us to try often, and pick and choose what works for us.
Re his flaws, I personally rather focus on what I can learn from whoever I meet in life and ‘ignore’ what doesn’t serve me.
Obviously, I recognise that for the ‘most vulnerable’ it’s harder to see it this way and I agree that a sick person should consult with a doctor and a person with serious tax problems should consult with a tax specialist 😛 - for me it’s all about taking the time, putting in the work and making informed decisions when it comes to our health, sucess and wellbeing.

It would be brilliant if there were somebody who does what Tony Robbins done but with good intent, not the intent of manipulating others into buying his products. His seminars are empowering and could be good for humanity, including his manipulations and his priming. But combined with his selling makes them toxic. It's the question in which direction do you prime your audience - towards their personal growth and empowerment or towards making the motivator rich. If you prime people towards personal growth and empowerment that would change many people's life for the better. Getting people to sell their furniture in order to buy a Tony Robbins ticket (as it apparently is reported in the Netflix documentary) tells that your point 4) regarding questioning whether your beliefs are the right ones is spot on.

Yup Robbins is a sales and marketing guy. Coaching doesn't have to be like that.
