It amazes me that a small glass ball has a value lol. And that they have names, I had a big box full of marbles when I was a kid, used to race a handful of them across the kitchen floor, never occurred to me they had a value or name.

I have some marbles from when I was 9 years old. The most valuable ones are called ‘tobacco spitters’ they were handmade by people before marbles were mass produced. Cool stuff.

My grandpa only had marbles to play with as a kid. He’s not a collector but he would always light up and buy them here and there throughout his life because of the memory. Last time I counted was over 4, 500….. a glass lamp full and the fish tank collection were not counted lol.. as grandma says “He hasn’t lost his marbles.”

As I mention in the vid, I am a novice with marbles. There is much to learn and the subject runs deep. .. Couple clarifications : There appears to be one handmade shooter - The irridescent one(not vintage), and others are machine made and older. I purposely didnt give an age to any of them, cuz I am no expert (yet, LOl) . And When I use the term Agate, this is the name of the marble. As in AKRO AGATE which I pointed to. Sorry I didnt mention that. There are also marbles made from stone agate. So 2 different terms and meanings. Sorry if there was any confusion. There are also clay marbles . I unfortunately didnt have time to mention all these details. The video would be too long. Lol.

the marble with the worm looking thing inside more than likely made in Germany. And as well the speckle ones. Highly sought out for with high value. Dont use anything on the one you thought someone painted. They painted agate marbles, and the older marbles dont have a high shine to them. No bubbles as well inside. Sulphide reproductions were made in 60's in Italy during 1960s. Pontil marks testify they were hand made not be considered blemishes

Gosh, I didn't realize my true marble expertise until I watched this video, lol. Yes sir, we are picky about the pictures people post and want help with ID, a good clear picture of all 4 sides taken on a solid back ground, preferably grey.

I found a marble while hunting antique bottles alongside where a narrow gauge rail track used to be. It is clear but sun-colored violet and it glows under UV so I think it is manganese glass like the 1880 -1910 bottles I was finding around this track, it also has a lot of bubbles like in antique glass. I have searched for antique marbles made of manganese glass but there isn't much info.

if you put the marbles on top of some washers (metal discs w/ open middle) they will stay put and are easier to handle

Iv never tried to identify marbles before. I do collect uranium glass. I have a few dozen uranium glass marbles, and that shooter in the beginning looks like a uranium glass marble. Hit it with a black light and see if it turns green.

We call the sparkly ones with speckles and the white one with speckles are goose eggs here in Australia they came out in the early 1990s. It is a top marble it's a keeper they come in all colours I love them.

put it this way, if you sold your entire lifelong collection, your door shed and cashed in your entire work's pension, you could be in McDonald's restaurant ordering a big Mac, cheeseburger and fries by teatime and still have enough to wash it down with a large cup of coffee!

The guys asking you for better pictures were not trying to be offensive. In order to be able to tell who the manufacturer is, it takes some really good pics inorder to see the seems and the different folds. The differences can be very subtle. It's also important to really see the colors. Every company used different glass and it makes a big difference in judging who the maker is, value and everything else. Bottom line is the better the picture the easier to identify.
