Bitwig Studio 1.3 Full in depth Review Part 2 - Multi-touch

Let's look at the multi-touch features of Bitwig Studio 1.3 running on a Microsoft Surface.

Hey, this is a great review. I just wanted to mention that you can set the loop points with touch. You just touch on the ruler where you want the loop to start, then drag down, then right to where you want it to end.

Great review once again! It is really interesting to watch your journey about touch and music. Just to tell you, bitwig already has a "master macro" type of thing. You just need to use a container plugin something as simple as "chain." Then you can make a macro for that container with parameters from all the plugins that are within that container. So theoretically you can literally put a container within another container if 8 macros are not enough. Plus you could have different containers in different parts of the effect chains that has macros for specific effects or plugins. And when it comes to bitwig plugins, many has a effect slot where you can nest a plugin within a plugin. Then those works similar to a container plugin. For example you could have a polysynth with a reverb and delay plugin nested in the FX slot. The you can create macros for all the parameters within polysynth, the reverb, and delay plugin within just the polysynth macros. Just thought I would mention this.

Another great review! I might switch to Bitwig unless Ableton get their act together with better touch capabilites in version 10. Tabbed projects are awesome too, hope Ableton can answer back on that as well.

Great in depth tutorial ! By the way can you launch clips like Ableton with legato mode
in bitwig? I mean not starting from the begining of the clip but from relative possition when you change clips...
or you can't do this in Bitwig ???

The surface pro has a different method of touchscreen than a normal touchscreen laptop or other device - the pen doesn't work on other devices. However I have found that a pen works fine with finger one a normal touchscreen - must be a surface pro limitation (or possibly fixed since 1.3.8)

I picked up a surface pro 4 and it works good with Bitwig. I actually had about 10 instances of Reaktor running and the cpu was only at around 60 percent. I wish you could automate some of the parameters with the pen. Actually just being able to fine tune my automation. I hope this is on their list as it's impossible to use the pen for any type of editing other than what you showed.
Also I'm getting pretty good latency with only the internal sound card. (Asio) this makes it super portable for jamming out at the coffee shop. Now if just Reason and Ableton would step up to the plate.. Bitwig and Surface Pro were both purchased because of you mate! They should hook a brother

Is there a way to incorporate the iPad with surface pro? I couldn't get the iPad to connect with it. I'd love to be able to use some of the midi sequencers from my iPad like you can with Ableton on a Mac.

Looking closely at your video, I see while in play mode and edit mode, you can see your clip launcher.
In my version 1.35 on surface touch I only see either or toggling the top left two buttons in upper section of the track.
I cannot find a way to have both open at the same time as in your video.
Do you know what the trick is?
