A more serious culprit is Sjögren's syndrome, an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of the tear-secreting glands in your eyes, leading to a reduction in tear production and chronic dry eye issues. It can also cause your mouth to become dry. As a systemic disease, affecting the entire body, symptoms may remain steady or worsen overtime. While some people experience mild discomfort, others suffer debilitating symptoms that greatly impair their functioning. Some research has shown that patches on the floor of the mouth and the underside or sides of the tongue are more likely to be cancerous. The symptoms of leukoplakia are one or more white patches on the surface of the tongue, underneath the tongue, or on the insides of the cheeks. When you have low thyroid production, it can result in feeling cold. Having super intense and vivid dreams or nightmares, especially if you act them out in your sleep can be an early sign of Parkinson's disease. If your fingers change color after being exposed to cold temps typically turning white, then blue, it could be due to Raynaud's disease. The discoloration occurs when the arteries that supply blood to the skin become too narrow. That can also cause your fingers to feel cold and numb until you warm up. One of the most visible symptoms of ovarian cancer in women is bloating, which occurs due to the buildup of excess fluid in the abdominal cavity. Many women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer found that their bloating was so severe that it became increasingly obvious and visible. In some cases, especially in advanced disease, visible masses that could be similar in size to a football can be seen in women’s abdomens and may even be mistaken for a pregnancy bump. This visible symptom of ovarian cancer is often a result of ascites, which is the presence of excess fluid in the abdominal cavity. Two possible underlying medical conditions are thyroid disease and anemia, both of which cause hair loss that can be treated and reversed. Early-stage stomach cancer (gastric cancer) rarely causes symptoms. When stomach cancer does cause signs and symptoms, they can include: ● Feeling tired or weak, as a result of having too few red blood cells (anemia) Most of these symptoms are more likely to be caused by things other than stomach cancer, such as a viral infection or an ulcer. Some of these symptoms may also be caused by other types of cancer. But people who have any of these problems, especially if they don’t go away or get worse, should see a doctor so the cause can be found and treated, if needed. General signs of dental erosion due to GERD include sensitivity, discoloration, thinning enamel, jagged edges, tooth pain, and eventual tooth loss due to fracture and decay. Those who have gum disease have an increased risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Chronic levels of inflammation in the mouth have been linked to heart disease. The gum tissue is very vascular, and one theory is that the mouth is a portal into the bloodstream so bacteria can travel from the mouth to various other parts of the body, including blood vessels of the heart. And while those are indeed signs of the mental illness, there are also lesser-known symptoms to be aware of, including irritability, angry outbursts, frustration, and agitation.
