any advice please whe ever i try to lawn garden with in a minute quite a few wasp appear.

Give wasps respect and don't bother them. When a wasp fly around you don't attack it and just leave it alone.
Wasps don't sting you unless you bother them because they don't want to sting.
Best time to deal with a wasps nest is at night time when they all in nest.
People fear them because they just think they will sting but they just curious about you.
I've had wasps land on me and I never bother them.
We need them and I think they have a right to be here.

Ruining picnics? Not really a problem. Let the wasps be. If you aren't brave enough to wave your hands a bit (I tested that it's not dangerous), just let the wasp sit down and ignore it (without eating it of course). If the wasp falls in water or juice pick it up with your finger. If you aren't allergic it's not a danger and even if you are, it's not that dangerous because wasps sting if squeezed, not just because you do quick moves around them or handle them. They may attack around their nest, but if it's not in your house just avoid fast moves around it.
