"and then he slapped her with a fish, and she gave birth"...is that what the kids are calling it these days?

What I absorbed from my great grandmother's Old Stories, when I was s tiny child from before I remember anything specific, was the one thing mentioned at the very end, how very important nature is, and how we should care for it, respect it, and protect it. I thank her for that!

seems like the "someone dives down to get dirt" is pretty common in native american lore. We lost a lot of stories when everyone died. Wonder what was lost to time because it was spoken word and oral tradition.

I've heard quite often that cultures who pass down their history orally can as a group retain information from thousands upon thousands of years. I can't remember where in the world, possibly Australia, the indigenous tells stories of migrating by land to Australia which means their culture retained the history of when land still connected Australia to the Asian continent.

So for this video, these tribes might have retained parts of history when the western US was possibly still green and witnessed it drying up into a desert. When you think about it, that's pretty fucking cool.

The Cherokee creation story reminds me of Watership Down.

Jacob and Esau were twins who split up their families for the same reasons. Cool overlapping

I am a Chickasaw Indian Half-Breed. Was separated from my Culture thanks to a very racist grandfather.
As an adult I moved from Texas to Oklahoma where I could research everything I could find about my Tribal Culture.
Hell I even learned to speak Chickashae.
Choctaw and Chickasaw are very similar peoples.

Choctaw is similar to the Inca leader and his staff planted in the ground.

Igbofanga the calling of the creator with the drum rhythm, the rytthm is called fanga in Africa by the Igbo people. The Igbo people are decendants of the line of Jacob. Some of the Creek Nation has these words because you hid us an saved us from the slave masters whip when we ran away. We thank you.

My mother's people are Creek and Igbo, and Jackson's family. I apologise for what Jackson did.

I think the thing I like about this creation story is the trial and error in the process.
“Sun still to hot. Move it again, bro.”
“Maybe slapping a woman with a fish isn’t the best method of propagation.”
“Yo, there’s too many humans up in here!!”

I recommended the book "thats what the old ones say" by chief joseph riverwind. If you want accurate tribe stories about God, the giant tribes, and pre columbian prophecy lol
