Leon Russell is one of those artists who you either love him or you hate him. How anyone could hate Leon Russell is beyond me

Leon was a genius piano player, songwriter, and part of the Wrecking Crew. He played on so many hit records in the '60s and '70s.

Jamel, this reaction to Leon Russell, Tightrope, touched my soul. This is the music of my youth and takes me back to my true self. I was 17 years old and pregnant when this song came out and I was on a tightrope. I had three options and all felt like they could be the wrong choice to me. But I raised my son and that is the best choice I have ever made in my life. I just wish my son and grandsons could appreciate how much this music of the 60’s and 70’s are my soul. We had no cellphones and no social media. Music was how we expressed ourselves and we loved our music and our musicians. Best time to be a teenager and express ourselves through music. Thank you for keeping our beloved music alive 🎶☮️🎶☮️😘😘

Leon was a sweetheart. Genuine. In college I had 3 Leon posters on my side of the dorm room (1974).

"LADY BLUE"
"Rainbow In Your Eyes"
'A Song For You"- Donny Hathaway's version will melt your soul.
He also wrote "Delta Lady" performed by Joe Cocker.
He's also playing piano on Barbara 's cover of "Stoney End". I think he was apart of the legendary Wrecking Crew.

Elton John is a huge fan of Leon Russell...he made an album with him when Leon had been awol from the scene for awhile to encourage him back to performing.

Leon is truly one-of-a-kind, and truly never talked about, which is a shame. Kudos for covering Mr. Russell.

YES!!! LEON!!! The best session pianist of the 20th century. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. He played with everybody...and I mean everybody! An amazing musician, and a truly kind and humble man. You MUST listen to ‘A Song For You’. He said, “I think every musician has one great song in them, and this one is mine.”

I'm just going to leave this here with you @Jamel: When you react to these songs and videos it makes my heart so happy, I've heard you say that "here we feel the music" it goes a lot deeper than that I think. The music which is by the way the soundtrack to my whole life it seems. It's very powerful stuff. which really have no words sufficient enough to explain. It's like we, the older generation have a secret we are dying to tell, and its all in the music. Like when you are dying for someone to open a gift you've given them, it's all that and more. All this music is really the gift that keeps on giving. It's just a joy to see your reactions, so thank you for that, and keep on feeling the music. :)

During my senior year at Hollywood High School in May of 70, we were sitting at our bus stop on LaBrea and Sunset in front of Tiny Naylors a VW van stopped and Leon got out and gave all of us a copy of his first album. Still have it ! Please listen to Delta Lady It was on that album.

“Shootout at the Plantation” Leon Russell too many to name. “Stranger in a Strange Land” hooked me after having read the book.

Elton john was in awe of leon's piano skills. Elton also helped leon out late in his life when his health was failing. Both great people
