This is my grandpa. I never really knew him. I live in Hawaii now and this has always been my fave song of his... my jaw JUST hit the floor after it came on the radio and for some reason I felt compelled to listen to it again and found this awesome video! Thank you to whoever made this!! I love how the girl looks like me with the Hawaiian flower in her hair 😍🌺🦋

Leon was truly the king of tickling the ivories of a ragtime piano. His music went completely against the grain of what was called contemporary music stylings but DAMN the man was a genius. Tightrope was a song that will live forever.
Lyrically, the man was unmatched.
Rest in peace Leon, you live on through your legion of fans that still remember you.

I saw Leon Russell in Albuquerque, NM. My first date in college. I drove my friend's Ford Falcon painted flat black with the hubs painted flaming orange. No muffler. It was a great concert.

Leon Russell was definitely ahead of his time. I think he turned off a lot of people because of his eccentricities and appearance. However, the songs that he wrote / performed are enduring, and many, many performers have covered his songs. Thx so much, Mr. Russell. We will miss you! ❤

Tight Rope by Leon Russell was a cool song and a hit for him back in the early 70's I was only 10 but would listen to it on the radio and it got a lot of airtime. If you got to grow up in the 50's through the 90's with all the golden classic movies & music, YOU were blessed.

Thanks to Brendan Huza for the animation! Lovingly rendered. Mr. Leon is what my older Brother Dan used to wake me up to in the early 70's on his big arse stereo. It was really nice being so young, and listening to such beautiful music. Bless

We listened to a lot of Leon Russel in college when this was first released in 1971-72.

Saw him live in concert in Charlotte in the 70's. He could put on a show.

Leon was a humble part of the "Wrecking Crew". Magical folks all.

Love it - heard it on public radio in nyc area tonight. They don't write great songs like THIS anymore. I graduated HS in '72 - not a good time in America. Glad something good was done in 1972 - this is great.
