I'm so pleased to see that you've posted this! It's a good reading of the complete collection and from a responsible translation. Good work, folks! When contemplating these sayings, I like to remember that Jesus was a person of the people. He spoke in ordinary speech to people of common intelligence. So, whatever good might come from this or that commentary one encounters, there is nothing that will match the fruit coming from our own, quiet and personal pondering of the words that Jesus spoke. It's sure to bless!
Having said that, let me make a couple of points to the viewers who are new to the Gospel of Thomas before I leave. First, the Coptic translation of Saying #30 appears corrupted and no one has found a good fix. However, the Greek fragment found at Oxyrhynchus, and as translated by Harold Attridge of Harvard, gives us a translation of the saying that fits nicely within the general message of the Gospel of Thomas. It reads: “Where there are three, they are without god, and where there is but a single one I say that I am with him."'
Let me finish with my pet peeve about Saying #114, which, as I've noted elsewhere, doesn't belong with the collection, but is a scribal addition from a later time. Compare this saying especially with what Jesus says in Saying #22 regarding who will enter the kingdom. “When you make the male and the female one and the same, so that the male not be male nor the female female… then will you enter the kingdom." Clearly, sexuality is declared irrelevant, if not an impediment, to one’s entry into the kingdom. This final saying is best viewed as a spurious and unrelated scribal note tacked on at some later date. It is important to notice that this saying would never have been recorded unless Jesus had admitted women and welcomed them as equals with all. In the culture of 1st century Israel, no woman would have been given standing to receive personal instruction by a rabbi regarding the requirements of discipleship. But in Saying #21, when Mary raises just that question, Jesus does not say: “Now don't you worry your pretty little head about such things!!”! Instead, Mary is clearly accorded full standing as a disciple and is given deep instruction. In Saying #61, Salome straight out declares that she is Jesus' disciple. She's so much accepted as a part of the inner circle that she even has standing to be impertinent and to challenge Jesus! “Who the hell do you think you are, mister?!” Salome says there, before Jesus patiently offers his answer with instruction. Jesus knew that in his misogynist society, inclusiveness would be ridiculed and protested, as he laments with the words of Saying #105. “Jesus said, 'Whoever knows the father and the mother will be called the child of a whore.'" Acknowledging and reverencing the female element of divinity would isolate anyone in the culture of Jesus' time. In the profile I've created around Peter, as an irascible, combative guy guy, it looks right on the money to think that the presence of Mary would get his knickers in a twist! But there's no way that Jesus would have patronized Peter's nonsense in the way this saying suggests that he did. I think that we can just drop it! For me, the cherry on the cake is that by dropping this saying from the collection, we get a nice book-ending effect provided by Sayings #3 and #113 at each end of the collection, both declaring the presence of God's kingdom in the here and the now. Peace and light to all.

Powerful proverbs and great words of wisdom. Some are recorded in the four gospel too.. Thank you for the good read.

One question kindly. What does the word woman mean and why did Jesus said he will lead women to become male so they too can become male and enter heaven?

The only one I can think of that seems to be overlooked is our own Father who I know can handle anything and isn’t it the thought that counts? Thank you for that offer and that was a great reading and the first time I heard all of the sayings of Jesus as Thomas has documented.

I Love The Gospel of Thomas
Isn't it Jesus say when you see the one who was not born of Woman prostrate your selves on your face and Worship him that one is your father ?

Gospel of Thomas was about building/financing construction of small attached rooms for SINGLE males and mainstream Christianity was based on marrying a Virgin girl, like Jesus's' mother Mary who married Jacob as a Virgin (Virgin Mary). Idea was to house the singles after marrying them first.
