Fun fact, despite the Black Templars bad reputation with communications with civilians, they maintain extremely good relationships with guardsmen, as the Templars carry a great deal of respect for them. Similarly, most guardsmen actually enjoy working with the Templars, as they are excellent leaders, orators and teachers.

Basically, this could reasonably have happened in 40k canon and I am here for it

Meanwhile the Regimental Commissar walks up to stand next to the Black Templar Chaplain who is observing the exchange.

Commissar: "I don't know whether to shoot him for raising his voice to an Astartes, or promote him for his courage..."

I think the reason the Templar relented is cuz he has like 372 kills and the guardsman is just arguing so he can have 10 kills and say he hit double digits

I think the poor Templar has his hands full trying to figure out whether he should be incensed or impressed by the utter audacity of a guardsman backchatting him. All the psycho-conditioning in the Imperium can't prepare you for that sort of thing...
