The Linux "hint" is a bit "funny" if you know Linux from 20 years ago. Nice joke. But today it is (at least a bit) out of date. There is an AppImage for the IDE under Linux available, so downloading it is as simple as downloading it for Windows and MacOS. And running it on Linux is even simpler then running it on Windows, since on Windows the software must be installed before you can run it while on Linux you can run it without installing it.
But you are right. A "normal" Linux user like to download the source and compile himself.
