The Anaerobic Speed Reserve: is training and increasing it really the secret to game speed? The answer is (obviously) that we don't know everything about speed, but current research does suggest the ASR is an influential part of training, whether for speed or condition.

So... are you sure you need to do more endurance work to "get faster" and stay fresh for longer? Because running fast more and building the capacity to recover quickly often seem to be better solutions in the long run.
